Gumdrop Tasty Chewies

Ingredients

• 3/4 cup shortening
• 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• 1 egg
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 1 cup rolled oats
• 1/2 cup flaked coconut
• 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 cup gumdrops, halved

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
2. Cream together the first 5 ingredients.
3. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Fold in gumdrops.
4. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or just until golden brown
